SAN FRANCISCO, CA, December 12th, 2019. The Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation held its first Maybach Holiday Reception in San Francisco, CA and celebrated the Legacy of Mentoring – An Evening of Maybach with 120 exclusively invited guests.
The event was held on December 4th at The Battery in San Francisco, which is the private social club of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and the melting pot of innovation, ideas, and diversity in the Bay Area. The night was hosted by the Wilhelm & Karl Maybach Foundation and brought together with the tremendous support and contribution of the sponsors Mercedes-Maybach (Mercedes-Benz USA), Maybach Icons of Luxury, and the Blue Horizon Group. In addition, the event was proudly supported by Maybach Family Vineyards, Ferren Winery, and Rivers-Marie Winery, Orlane Cosmetics, Mammut Sports Group North America and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, San Francisco. The vision of the Maybach legacy was exceptionally recreated by the renowned and celebrated artist Michael Schwab.
Thank you to our sponsors and supporters for helping us put on this great event!
The Maybach Foundation showcases Maybach Engineering, design heritage and offers programs that mentor talent to inspire sustainable innovation. The Maybach legacy is a tribute to the power of mentoring. At its root, the Maybach legacy is based on a simple vision: bringing mobility to land, air, and sea. This vision was fulfilled by the world-famous Maybach engines and is now celebrated through the Maybach Foundation’s ‘Maybach Powered-projects’. Wilhelm and Karl Maybach’s engines were utilized by Zeppelin airships, cars, hi-speed trains, and boats, thus paving a new era of transportation and revolutionizing mobility by land, air, and sea — the foundation that Wilhelm and Karl laid still is a substantial part of our life. Instilling trust in someone solely on the basis of talent and potential and inspiring them with the right kind of mentorship was as relevant then as it is today.
Uli Maybach, President of the Maybach Foundation thanked the audience and was inspired by the positive feedback received: “My faith in mankind is renewed when I hear the many positive reflections on the service of mentoring that the evening’s guests shared with me — especially while surrounded by the trappings of über-luxury: the beautiful Maybach accessories, the Mammut delta line and of course the stunning Maybach SUV. Having Blue Horizon here also added a unique perspective of sustainability at the intersection of the important values that the Maybach Foundation stands for – as we are facing different, challenges nowadays — a modern need for mentoring!”.
Followed by a social get together and gathering of local and international entrepreneurs from the Bay Area tech community, global business owners, artists and philanthropists, fine appetizers and dialogues about mentoring, the reception hosted a panel of five speakers across different industries and backgrounds to share their challenges and solutions (including the Maybach Foundation’s President Ulrich Schmid-Maybach), Rachael A. Jarosh, CEO of Enactus, a global community of student, academic and business leaders committed to shape a more sustainable world, Roger Lienhard, Founder & Chairman of the Blue Horizon Group that focuses on creating the largest ecosystem for tasty, healthy, and sustainable food — a true mile marker for disruptive industries. Hans-Ulrich Südbeck, Consul General of the German Consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in San Francisco, noted that the Maybach Foundation and the legacy it celebrates stands strong as a wonderful symbol honoring the Trans-Atlantic bridge-building between the United States of America and Germany. The Consulate represents the power of mutual support and friendship which manifested the connections between the international guests from Germany and Europe. In addition, the Mayor of the City of Friedrichshafen, Germany, Andreas Brand honored the accomplishments of the Maybach family and the impact it has until today. The contributors to the panel discussed and shared their mentoring experiences and journeys: how it made a meaningful impact on their lives and how inspirational their solutions can be for others.
While the Maybach legacy of mentoring was in the limelight of this year’s event, there was a very special surprise for all attending guests: the U.S. première of the new Mercedes-Maybach GLS! One of the reception highlights was the announcement of the brand-new Mercedes-Maybach GLS — exclusively brought to us by Mercedes-Benz USA: “The Mercedes-Maybach brand stands for exclusive luxury, maximum comfort and state-of-the-art technology in automotive engineering, services, and accessories. It is seen as a trailblazer in defining style and status. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC represents a new form of luxury in the SUV segment. It extends the portfolio of the Mercedes-Maybach brand by combining the body design, performance and technology of the new GLS with the luxury of a top-class sedan. Its spacious interior with the highest-grade materials and extremely effective noise insulation creates a stylish and luxurious atmosphere.”
The ‘sophisticated beauty’ was proudly introduced to the guests at the Battery’s garden area to be one of the first few to witness the Mercedes-Maybach GLS with a maximum of technical innovation and Mercedes-Maybach brand values and perfection of Maybach-engineering.
A silent auction was held to promote the items generously provided by our sponsors including but not limited to outdoor jackets and hiking gears from Mammut, valuable cosmetics from Orlane, fashion accessories from the Maybach Icons of Luxury and original signed iconic Maybach Foundation posters by renowned artist Michael Schwab. The response to the silent auction was exceptional and the guests had a great sense of holiday giving spirit!
Ulrich Maybach shared the details about joining the Maybach Foundation Club by enrolling in an annual membership and also how one could be part of the mentor program and contribute, by inviting all guests to stay tuned to the Foundation’s social media pages and looking out for the ‘Mentorgarten’ launching early 2020.
Entertainment was accompanied by wonderful holiday jazz music brought to the Maybach Foundation guests by The Candace Geiger Trio. The night unwound with excited mingling and networking about the mentorship programs and ideas of pushing it towards sustainability which matters now more than ever – and needs solutions and answers. And as all good things come to an end, the guests were given gift bags which proudly contained thoughtful gifts from our sponsors and some love from the Maybach Foundation.
The event might be over, but the inspirations and interactive dialogue will still endure the test of time and eventually finding its way to doing good and by extending a helping hand to those in need.
Our history, your future.
