Welcome
to the Maybach Foundation!

We are currently working on realizing our concept for the “Maybach Schaudepot.” In Friedrichshafen, we are planning and constructing an exhibition space with engaging scenography to bring historical milestones of the Maybach legacy to life for a diverse audience. The exhibition will form a bridge between groundbreaking Maybach innovations on land, on water, in the air and their lasting influence on our world today.

Featuring original objects from the collections of the Maybach Foundation, the Schmid-Maybach family, and the Maybach Museum Friends Association, we aim to give our guests exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into the making of a private collection. Visitors can discover inspiring stories, learn about pioneering achievements, and explore the environments where innovation and creativity still thrive today.

But who were the brilliant inventors Wilhelm Maybach (1846 – 1929) and his son Karl Maybach (1879 – 1960), whose portraits welcome you from the building’s façade and invite you on a journey of discovery? What ties do they have to Friedrichshafen, to Zeppelin airships, or to the very first Mercedes? And why are their engines and vehicles so important to our technical and cultural history? Finally, how does the Maybach Foundation continue to carry this legacy forward today?
